A Thibodeaux Tradition

For all Thibodeaux children, a distinct privilege of turning three (and of being potty trained) is the opportunity to catch your first fish. Since she had fulfilled these two requirements, I bought a mini fishing pole for Maggie and some shiners and we walked down to the pond in the park near our house. We sat under a nice shady tree and tossed a cork out. After a few minutes (and on the first shiner, I might add) Maggie caught her first fish - a little sac-au-lait (or crappie to these northern folk). She had a little trouble reeling it in (I guess I should have gone with the cane pole rather than the left-handed spinner reel), but otherwise, she did pretty good.
After some cajoling, she finally agreed to hold her fish up for me.

Birthday!!!

The third time around, we are really learning how to throw a good party. This year, we blew up about a hundred balloons and made a trail from Maggie's bedroom to the living room while she was sleeping. When she woke up in the morning, she just followed the balloons all the way to her stack of presents.

Here she is playing with her money. Her favorite denomination is the penny. I guess she will eventually learn.

Here are some cookies that Honey bought for her. We're still working on those.

Here is the more-than-life sized Orange Blossom doll that Gran bought for her. It arrived via UPS deceptively stuffed in a modest size box.

All in all, we had a lot of fun. Here are a few videos.

Summer Fun

Hey everyone. Sorry for not keeping you in the loop recently, but Gabby and I have been hard at work on our respective Nobel Prizes. Summer is in full swing here. When I say summer, I mean occasional highs in the 90s interspersed with days of low humidity, strong NW winds and lows in the upper 50s. You should hear the people up here complain about the heat. It's pretty funny.

Anyway, since we have been seriously slacking off on the blog, I want to post a few updates over the next couple of weeks. We have a bunch of pictures, but I don't want to post everything at once. Here are a few pictures of Maggie engaging in typical summer activities:

1. Playing in the water at the municipal park with no pants on:

2. Watering here cacti:

 3. Taking a pedal boat ride at Lake of the Woods:

Finally, to prove that we didn't photoshop the pictures above, here are some videos of Maggie in the aforementioned locations.

We will update soon with pictures of Maggie's 3rd birthday festivities, so stay tuned!!!
