Tent Time

Now that the weather is getting nicer, we are spending more time outside. Still, the tent comes in handy on Saturday mornings. If you listen carefully in the second video, you may be able to hear Maggie's aria.

Spring Bouquet

Last weekend, Maggie and I headed out to the park to construct our spring bouquet.

Not much is growing this time of year, so after a lot of searching...

...we had to settle for last year's growth.

We also took the opportunity to play on the sculptures.

Bea's Antics

Good news on Bea: the EEG came back completely normal. We will still meet with the neurologist in a couple of weeks, but they are unlikely to be able to tell us anything useful. It is not uncommon for seizures to have no known cause, or to happen for unknown reasons. Hopefully, this was just a one-time thing. Anyway, here are some videos of Bea doing her regular thing.

The Big Kid Slide and Bea Update

We've been taking full advantage of spring. Here's Bea and Maggie testing out the slide at Hessel Park.

Bea seems to be doing fine after her apparent seizure a few weeks ago. From the description the teachers gave and the results from the blood work, the pediatrician thinks she may have indeed had a seizure. There was nothing extremely abnormal with her blood work, but there were a couple of things typically associated seizures that were slightly below or above average levels. She had an EKG that checked out fine and this week, she also had an EEG performed.  We had to keep her up until midnight the night before, then wake her up at 4 AM so that she would be sleep deprived and stressed during the EEG.  After they hooked all of the electrodes up to her head, she promptly fell asleep (which is what they want) and they recorded her brain activity for about 30 or 45 min.  They tried to induce seizures with a strobe light, but they were unable to.

We will have to wait a couple of weeks to meet with the neurologist, but all of her brain activity looked normal to the tech who performed the EEG. At any rate, she has been acting and behaving normally, so we are hopeful that this was just a one-time freaky thing perhaps induced by the virus she had at the time (which turned out to be a pretty nasty bug for all of us). We will be sure to update you as soon as we have more information.

It's Springtime!

Which means that, not only will videos and pictures be produced at faster rates, but also that the Canadian geese at the park are accessible by bike!

We'll be posting a lot of new stuff over the next few days, so keep posted.

More random pics

Bea loves her ice cream. Maggie and Dad went to the movies to see Sponge Bob so we decided to treat ourselves to yummy Marble Slab. Bea fed herself while I enjoyed my cup of ice cream. We got Bea a new superhero shirt. Maggie does not like it because she does not have one. The first time Maggie saw the shirt she said if I can't wear it neither can Bea and then she threw it under my bed. She's so classy.

Mom's birthday, the arrival of spring, and a surprise in the garbage can

Mom just turned 34! Here we are celebrating with some cake.

The weather is warming up around here. It has been in the 50s and 60s all week and it looks like that pattern will continue for a while. Here's Bea enjoying our first Sunday playing outdoors in a while. She was really afraid that she wouldn't see snow for a while, so she made sure to get some tasting in before it melted.

Finally, there was a surprise visitor in the Barnes and Noble garbage can:

Plying in the snow

This past weekend, we got almost a foot of snow (the fluffy, powdery type that skiers dream of).

After church, we were having our cookies and coffee and Bea couldn't stop talking about all the snow.

Of course, we had to get all the snow gear on.  Bea moves pretty good in her snow pants and boots.

Thankfully, before it snowed, we remembered to fill the gas tank on the sled.

Maggie even tried to make a snow angel, but she got a little confused.

Random photos and Bebe's update

About 75% of the time my phone is lost or out batteries (or both) so I have not captured many moments lately. Lucky for me Chris is a tad better with keeping up with his phone so he has been doing the bulk of the blogging. But here are a few photos I had on my phone. Bebe loves playing in Maggie's room when we let her. Maggie usually has a ton of choking hazards on the ground so when we let Bebe in there we really have to watch her.
As many of you heard Bebe has been at the doctors numerous times. It first started with a regular 18 month checkup.Everything was great. She even got to play doctor and loved playing with their computer and mouse they leave unattended.
Then it ended with Bebe having a seizure at daycare. Chris and I did not witness it, but we ended up in the ER. You are probably thinking why did I take a picture of her crying. 1. She only let Chris hold her for a straight hour and 2. She was crying for a straight hour. What else was I suppose to do? As soon as they took off the wire to her toe she finally fell asleep. Then the doctor came in. I swear he was just waiting for her to stop crying. Anyways, they released us and told us she just had a breathe-holding spell and to schedule a follow up appt with our regular pedi. The pedi believes she had a seizure based on the daycare workers written reports (which we did not have at the ER) and observations so we were sent for more testing (blood work and EKG). Coming up in a couple of weeks is a scheduled EEG that requires Bebe to be sleep deprived. Yes, they want us to keep Bebe up until midnight and also wake her up at 4am in the morning for her 8am appt. I'm dreading that that evening already. Okay so we don't know why she had a seizure, but the good news is she is completely fine :) and is acting like our (milk) bottle crazy baby. The pedi did say that some people with slight seizure disorders tend to only get seizures when they are sleep deprived or their immune system is down. Low and behold....our family of 4 was wiped out with a very nasty virus this past week. Patient X was Bebe (as Chris calls her).
Hope you enjoyed my ramblings! I will keep y'all updated with our family business.

More winter fun

One of Bea's favorite past times is digging through the refrigerator.  I think the different colored foods and packages mesmerize her, because she is usually not interested in eating anything.

We are also trying to teach Bea the importance of cleaning up after herself - with mixed results.

Here we are playing with some fake lips.

Finally,  Maggie and Bea have been making the most of the winter months by finding creative ways to play together.
