Oka National Park

Now that the weather is nicer, we have entered "excursion" season.  Maggie, Bea, and I (dad) made a quick afternoon trip to Oka National Park (right off the main island of Montreal to the west).  I had originally been planning on taking them to the "beach," but we have had a lot of flooding and I realized on the drive over (and later confirmed) that the beach was probably closed.  Nevertheless, we had a nice long walk in the woods. There were still no leaves on the trees a couple of weeks ago, but short-sleeve weather is always considered spring for us!!!

An unrelated note:  neither of these two girls is any good at arm wrestling.

Medieval Festival

Last Saturday was a nice warm day, so we went to the Medieval festival.  It's not quite as grand as the Renaissance festival in Texas, but we still had a lot of fun.  Of course, BB quickly found the hand-made headband booth and convinced me to buy her this dainty floral arrangement.

Quite fittingly, BB also paused for a picture in the stocks...

We spent quite a bit of time in the archery area honing our skills.  Maggie is quite dead-eye.

BB had a little more trouble (due to her short arms), but she managed to get off a few shots.

Now that the weather is nice for the "light half" of the year, we'll be heading outdoors for plenty more activities.
