Lucienne Marie

Sorry for not updating sooner, but Lucienne Marie (Lucy) was born on Friday, January 27 at 8:41 AM.  She weighed 3.05 kg and was 49 cm long.  Don't worry, I know the conversions (6 lbs, 11 oz and 19.25 inches).  She was our lightest baby by almost a full pound.  Like all our others, she came out with a head full of hair (though it is a little shorter than Maggie and Bea's if I remember correct).

She tried to come out feet first, but the doctors wouldn't let her, so she ended up being born by C-section.  Mom is feeling much better and will be released from the hospital tomorrow after Veronica and Eddie arrive from Texas tonight.  We tossed around several names, but in the end it came down to Vivian Grace and Lucienne Marie.  We opted for Lucienne Marie because it sounds good in both English and French, it still has a classic sound, and Lucy keeps our trend of cute nicknames like "Maggie" and "Bea."  Also, Vivian kind of reminds me of the decrepit old dog that Steve and Jaren used to have.

We'll have plenty more pictures in the near future, but for now, here are a few that I took with my phone at the hospital.

Christmas week

To start off our holidays we got a special delivery from Honey and Grandpa. Yummy cupcakes and a movie night package. A few days after this package arrived a nasty stomach virus got all the girls. I even had to go to the hospital overnight.

But, by Christmas Eve we were back to our healthy selves. The girls made their gingerbread houses, which included a few left over babies from Mardi Gras.
They even participated in the Christmas eve pagent at church. Maggie loved her angel outfit and Bea loved parts of it (the white dress and halo). She was not into the gold wings.

We also snacked on cheese, crackers, and sausage on Christmas Eve before church.
And then came Christmas day. Maggie concluded that the Bea and her must have been good by the amount of toys Santa left. Here are Maggie's gifts... The big hit was her shoppie dolls. One from Santa and one from us.

Bea didn't have a favorite toy that I can think of. She did take her sweet time opening her gifts. She really wanted to play with each toy before opening any more. She did say that she asked Santa for a flower dress (she didn't) and he did not give her one.

Stocking stuffers combined (they have really big stockings)

I would have to say a very successful holiday was had!

Baby update....less than a month left!

I just got back from my doctors appointment and they did a quick ultrasound to confirm that the baby is still breech. She is :( Her exact position is frank breech, which means she is trying to smell her feet near my ribs. Other than being in the wrong position everything else looks good.

So my doctor is going to attempt an external cephalic version (ECV) at the hospital on Tuesday morning. Some doctors give their patients drugs to relax the uterus or an epidural for pain management....my doctor gives me nothing. Sounds like fun (insert eyeroll). Success rate of an ECV is 50-60%, but it's worth a try in order to avoid trying to give birth to a breech baby. Also, they don't perform ECV's until 37 weeks because there is a high possibility that this procedure will start labor. So unless baby turns around it looks like we will have a January baby.

If it doesn't work my options will be...
1. Elected C-section around 38-39 weeks (Either Tuesday or Thursday since that is when my doctor is at the hospital)
2. If baby stays frank breech I can try to deliver at another French hospital
3. I might be able to attempt a vaginal delivery at the hospital I have been at since I already gave birth twice, but doctor said most likely it would be at the French hospital down the road...no idea where it is???

We will know more Tuesday afternoon.

Happy New Year

By this time next year, I'm pretty sure we'll be the best ice skaters in our extended families.
