Road Trip to Nashville

Last weekend, Maggie and I took a short (6 hour) road trip to Nashville, Tennessee.  Neither of us had ever been, so it was a big adventure.  We got out of Champaign before sunrise and made it to Nashville by lunch time.

Of course, no road trip is complete without a stop at Denny's.  Joe and I must have hit every one in the four corners area on a trip we took about 15 years ago.

After checking in to the hotel, our first stop was the Frist Center for the Visual Arts.  They had an entire upstairs dedicated to hands on art for kids.

After the museum, we went to the LSU game (the real reason for our trip).  Maggie got all decked out in her purple and gold.

She THOROUGHLY enjoyed the cracker jacks, popcorn, and peanuts.

After the food ran out, Maggie got kind of restless, so we left the game a little early (LSU was getting whipped) and had dinner with cousin Nick.

On Sunday, after our complementary breakfast and quick swim in the hotel pool, we headed to the Discovery Science Museum.  We took this selfie in the planetarium, right before the movie started.

On the way home, we stopped for Maggie's favorite dinner: Jimmy John's ham sandwich and chocolate chip cookie.

I think Maggie had a great time, as evidenced by this rare video I took of her while she singing without noticing me.

And finally, in case you missed it, Bea can crawl now!!!

2nd big art project

We forgot to blog Chris and Maggie's last big project. Maggie was able to take it to class and show everyone during group time.

Mommy and Bea weekend

Maggie and Chris took off in the early hours Saturday morning. Before they left I heard Bea awake and I was a little sad they woke her up. Well, like a good baby she put herself back asleep and I slept in until 7am...Yay! We got up, ate, and shopped. Walked all through Target and picked up some cute play outfits for Bea.
Bea only was able to shop for about an hour and then wanted to eat and sleep more.
And then we played a while.
Here she is with a 'teething' smile.

And her real smile.

We also had a little accident Sunday afternoon. I put her down for a nap and she woke up and started to babble. Since she was in a good mood I decided to leave her in the rock-n-play for a while. She started to whine a little so I got up to get her and this is what I found. No baby...I think my heart skipped a beat and then I looked behind the car seat after spotting her little legs.

Oopsie.......
No crying at all and I'm glad she's okay. I guess we will have to use the crib from now on. Although, Chris needs to move the mattress down because on Friday her teachers informed us that she was able to pull up. And lastly, she is officially a crawler.

Oh happy day

I'm not sure what that title is supposed to mean, other than these pictures/videos make me happy.

Maggie continues to develop her song and dance technique.  I think Bea's face at the end of the video really sums it up nicely.

We also started Maggie on a daily regimen of rocket science.  No, seriously....

Some more videos of Beatrice.  I predict she'll be crawling within a week.

Now that we have extra day light and non-subarctic temperatures, I've been taking the girls for walks in the neighborhood.  Today, we had some pretty evening skies.

Maggie and I are taking a quick road trip to Nashville this weekend to see an LSU baseball game, explore the Frist Center for Visual Arts, and to take a few swims in the indoor pool at our hotel (the highlight for Maggie).  Pictures to follow.

Ten on Tuesday

1. Oh, the weather is looking awesome. It's been in the 60s the last two days. I even went for a walk/jog yesterday.

2. We are in the thick of trying to figure out what elementary school to choose for Maggie. We need to turn in our application by March 31st.

3. I'm 33

4. Baby Bea is now crawling forward 2 units. I hope it takes a while for her to get a hang of it. Maybe this weekend I will start baby proofing the house. Was not a big deal when Maggie was little because we didn't have too many small things (just a few cords to hide). But now with Maggie's toys the whole house in a baby trap. Need to clean.

5. Both girls had pink eye

6. Bea had an ear infection

7. Both stayed home sick last week and got better by Thursday. But Baby Bea threw up Friday at school so I had to pick her up early.

8. Bea is a little stinker. I think she liked being home with us. Acted completely normal Friday. )

9. Throwback Tuesday--Maggie style )

10. I should be working on my presentation, but instead I am trying to think of ten things that occurred this past week :)
