Gran and Papa came to visit. Ostensibly, the purpose of the trip was to visit their new grand daughter, but they also brought some new living room furniture.
During their visit, there was plenty of time for fishing. Here's Maggie's first catch of the day (a little blue gill).
This was by no means her last fish. She kept "helping" Papa and I reel in our fish.
There was also ample time for libations (thanks for the margarita recipe, Joe).
Gran sure enjoyed them.
Get-togethers are always a good excuse to grill some bacon-wrapped back strap.
Beatrice spent the week soaking up all the activity.
Of course, Gran's attention was a hot commodity, of which Maggie got the lion's share.
And no trip to Illinois is complete without a trip to the Curtis Orchard pumpkin patch.
The apple trees were so loaded this time of year that each tree had dozens of apples at the base.
Here was this year's final haul. They will make cool jack-o-lanterns when Halloween comes around. Hopefully, I can find some way (not involving a gun) to keep the squirrels from destroying them this year.
Here's a few more pictures to close out the post. We have plenty more coming.
