Maggie Cakes and Baby Bea

Here's another cavalcade of videos. I hope your internet connection is OK.  Here's Maggie and I eating lunch in the hospital cafeteria.  I believe I said before that one of Maggie's teachers once stated: "Maggie is the silliest girl in the class."  This video corroborates that statement.

Here's Maggie singing happy birthday to Beatrice.

Here's Maggie lounging with her baby sister on the hospital bed.

Here's Maggie and I picking Bea's namesake from the hospital garden. (If you remember the tulip episode from a few years ago, it seems that Maggie has quite a penchant for floral thievery).

Finally, here's some videos of Beatrice mostly sleeping, sometimes yawning, and occasionally pooping.

Baby Bea

Sorry that we have been so late posting updates on Beatrice Rose. I know everyone has been dying to see more pictures, so we apologize for the slow posting. Bea has been a pretty good trooper so far. She usually has a cranky spell for a few hours at night, but then she seems to feed and sleep pretty well most of the time. We just had a checkup with the pediatrician today and everything looks good so far. Mom is also doing really well and is recovering much more quickly than she did with Maggie.

Here are a few pictures of Beatrice in the incubator when she was only a few minutes old.  In many of these pictures, I can see a lot of resemblance to her sister (such as the pouty bottom lip).  One of these days, well go back through our old pictures of Maggie and post some side-by-side pictures.

I think Bea really looks like Maggie in this next picture.

Here's mom, looking great as always.

Here are a few family pictures that we managed to get before Maggie started acting silly in front of the camera.

Here's Maggie holding Bea for the first time.  Excitement....

...followed quickly by: "Take her off of me."

We still have a lot of pictures and videos to post, so keep checking the blog for the most recent updates.

Videos

I know these videos don't have any new pictures of Beatrice, but I wanted to post them before they get lost in the fray. We have a lot of pictures and more videos of Baby Bea and Maggie that we'll be posting in the next few days, so stay tuned for a flurry of activity.

Beatrice Rose Thibodeaux!

We are all doing fine. Beatrice Rose (Bea - pronounced BEE) was born at 3:25 PM after about 7 hours of labor. She weighed 7 lbs, 12 oz and was 19.5 in long. She is perfectly healthy and has a lot of black hair like Maggie (I guess this could be a trend). We will post a little more detail later (Gabby's epidural story nearly rivals my infamous Thibodessey saga with American Airlines from a few years ago), but for now, we'll leave you with a few pictures.

Maggie and Mom week

Chris had a week long conference. The good news is that I did not go into labor while he was away. The bad news is I ate way too much sugar while he was away that my dr told me to slow down. I guess my nightly bowls of ice cream are out :(

Here are a few things Maggie and I did while Dad was away.

1. We still went to work and school :)
2. We enjoyed the pool. This is actually a new pool that opened up on July 4th. It has a giant playscape for children (you can see the giant bucket in the sky). Although Maggie doesn't enjoy it too much because it sprays too much water in her face. The pool also has 3 slides for adults, diving board and a rock climbing wall. Maggie actually enjoys the whirlpool the most, which is what the picture below depicts. I put her in a life jacket and let her go in circles (of course, I have to be within arm length from her so she doesn't freak out). I think we did this for 3 hours with little breaks in between.

3. We also went out with our friends. Maggie was inspired by all the Chinese grad students eating with chopsticks. And she also enjoyed playing with her pink headband, some random stick that actually is suppose to go into your bowl and John's sunglasses.

Playdate with Alara

Chris alluded to the weekend playdate we had a few weeks ago. Alara came over to our house. After a while the girls started bickering at each other so I told them we are going to walk to the park since they were fighting over some white gloves.
Well, it turns our the park by the school in under construction for the next year. They removed every piece of equipment :( So we headed back home and drove to another park that is has a sprinkler from 11am-3pm and 5-7pm. We went at 330 pm so the girls could not get wet. Gues what....the sprinkler pad was still on so the girls got all wet in the play clothes. We sent Chris back home to pick up towels and dry clothes. The girls had a blast and they were not fighting with each other anymore.

Salon day = girl day

Maggie's school set up a parlor and she loved the wigs so we made Chris get our wigs out of the Halloween storage bin.

4th of July in Champaign, IL

Edit to add: I was not aware Chris already posted 4th of July videos a week ago. Now that he has his iphone I don't keep up with what he videotapes. I am going to catch up reading our blog :)

Chris and I have been neglecting our blog...we will try to be better at updating it. Maggie had no school on 4th of July so I took the whole day off. The weather was a cool 80 degrees so during the day we attended the 4th of July parade. We went last year, but Maggie did not appreciate parades at the time. She enjoyed the whole parade this year, especially all the candy and goodies they hand out.
Here we are just waiting for the start of the parade...

This is the end result....lots of candy

and being wiped out.

In the evening, we all headed out to see the fireworks. Of course, we had to stand in line to get snowcones before the fireworks started.
During the long wait in line Chris attempted to teach Maggie how to throw a frisbee (gift from the parade)

It was actually cold at night and I am very thankful that we brought two blankets.

Midsummer movies

Sorry for the blogging dearth. I have a few recent videos.

The firefly catch.

the twirl in a new Autumn outfit from Honey.

Forth of July festivities.  After destroying some snow cones, we watched the fireworks.

Swinging our friend Alara at the park.  Maggie's best friend Alara now goes to a different school, so we had an entire weekend of fun including park, dress up, play dates at both houses, and swimming.

Singing.  I'm not really sure what this song is about, but it involves being trapped behind a closed window, winter time and roller skates (make sure your volume is turned up).

Omaha Zoo videos

All these videos are from our Omaha trip. This first video is amazing because Maggie normally sits on a bench when we ride carousels. She choose to ride on the reindeer. We will see soon of this was a fluke or is she over her fear of the animals....stay tuned.

This reminded me of Indiana Jones. Maggie loved this bridge made out of rope so much that she crossed it three times. And of course, is any trip complete unless Maggie finds a swing. Just a reminder to those that forgot...Maggie loves swinging. In fact, last year I cut down on going to parks because all I ever did was push. It gets boring fast. This year I am really working harder on teaching her how to pump her legs so I don't have to push.
